Small on purpose
Kalkman Construction is a locally owned, veteran-owned residential construction company based in Whitefish, Montana. We were built on over 15 years of hands-on work in the trades and a craft that's been passed down three generations.
We keep the operation small deliberately. The person who walks your project and prices it is the person you'll see on site — not a salesperson who hands you off to a project manager you've never met. That's the single biggest difference between working with us and working with a larger outfit.
It also means we take on fewer jobs at once. When we're on your project, we're on your project.
How we work
Every project starts with listening. Before we talk materials or budget, we want to understand how you actually use the space, what's frustrating about it now, and what you want it to become. A lot of what we do is telling people honestly what will and won't work — including when the thing they're asking for isn't the thing that will fix the problem.
From there you get a written scope with real numbers: what's included, what isn't, what the schedule looks like, and where the risks are. Then we build it, keep the site clean, and tell you what's happening next.
We answer the phone. That sounds like a low bar, and in this industry it isn't.
